An elderly man has died after being hit by a car in south Manchester.
The horror smash happened at the junction of Parrs Wood Road and School Lane in Didsbury at around 2.15pm yesterday (Monday). The road was cordoned off near to Barlow RC High School as emergency services rushed to the scene.
Police said a Toyota Aygo collided with the pedestrian. The 86-year-old was treated at the scene by paramedics.

He was then rushed to hospital, but he tragically died of his injuries. His next of kin has been informed, police said.
The driver of the Toyota - a 51-year-old man - was arrested on the scene. He was later rearrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
He remains in custody to be questioned by detectives. Officers are now urging any witnesses to come forward.
In a statement, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "An 86-year-old man was involved in the collision with a Toyota Aygo at the junction of Parrs Wood Road and School Lane in Didsbury at about 2:15pm on Monday 14 November 2022.

"He was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to hospital, where he sadly died. His next of kin has been informed.
"The 51-year-old male driver of the Toyota was arrested at the scene, and later rearrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He remains in custody for further questioning.
