A man has been charged with 67 domestic violence offences on the Gold Coast dating back several years.

A joint investigation by Queensland police and the Australian federal police resulted in the 55-year-old man being charged with multiple domestic violence offences between 2016 and 2017.

The 67 charges include numerous counts of contravening domestic violence orders, using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence, unlawful stalking, and breaches of bail.

It is alleged the charges were over several years and involved multiple victims.

The man was detained by police in the Philippines on local charges before he was deported back to Brisbane on 9 May and arrested by Queensland police.

Queensland police Det Insp Paul Fletcher said the operation “demonstrates our unwavering commitment to bringing offenders to justice and protecting our community”.

“His arrest brings a significant level of safety and reassurance to the victims involved. Our focus now is ensuring he faces the full extent of the law, and that justice is served,” he said.

“This arrest highlights the critical importance of inter-agency cooperation. All officers’ dedication and hard work have ensured that a dangerous person can no longer cause harm to his victims.”

The man was refused bail and was due to appear in Brisbane magistrates court on 10 June.
