Man City and Leeds United is set to be televised at 3pm today as the TV blackout rule in the UK is lifted for the Coronation of the King.
Pep Guardiola's side welcome the Yorkshire giants to the Etihad this afternoon knowing that a win would put them one step closer to retaining their league title. A win today for City would put them four points ahead of Arsenal in second with just three games left to play. Former England manager Sam Allardyce takes charge of Leeds for the first time today following the sacking of Javi Gracia earlier this week.
The game was originally selected by Sky Sports to be shown as one of its Sunday fixtures but Man City are due to play Real Madrid on Tuesday night in the Champions League. The Premier League was forced to find a new slot and noon today was out due to it clashing with the Coronation itself so it will now be shown at 3pm on Sky Sports Premier League
The FA is among a handful to follow UEFA's article 48 which sets aside a period of time where no games can be shown live on television. In the UK it means no games are allowed to air between 2.45pm and 5.15pm on a Saturday - a rule which has been applied to overseas leagues broadcast in the UK as well as games within the English football pyramid.
The Coronation only takes up a small part of the day, however a significant police presence is needed in London so the game couldn't be moved to 5.30pm either.
