Man City 'turn full attention' to Mateo Kovacic after Jude Bellingham blow and more transfer rumours

Manchester City have set their sights on Mateo Kovacic amid reports that Jude Bellingham is closing in on a move to Real Madrid, according to reports.

City could be in the market for at least one midfielder this summer, with the future of Ilkay Gundogan uncertain. The 32-year-old's contract is set to expire this summer, with Barcelona said to be eyeing a free transfer. Bernardo Silva is also open to leaving City.

Pep Guardiola's side are one of several top European clubs eyeing Bellingham, with the 19-year-old set to be the most in-demand player of the summer. However, recent reports have suggested the midfielder would prefer a move to Real Madrid, with Football Insider reporting that all eyes are now on Chelsea's Kovacic.

The Croatia international will enter the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge this summer and could be one of several players sold as Chelsea try and balance the books of their massive spending. A combination of injury and new arrivals have limited Kovacic's minutes, but the 29-year-old has been a reliable performer in his five-year spell in London.

Elsewhere, The Sun has named City among several clubs eyeing Benfica wonderkid Cher Ndour.

The 18-year-old will be out of contract this summer, with potential suitors only needing to pay training compensation to Benfica and the midfielder's former club, Atalanta.

Guardiola's scouting team have been in attendance to watch Ndour, who has featured 29 times for the Portuguese side's B team and Italy's under-20 outfit.

City look set to face heavy competition for the teenager, should they make a move, with Manchester United, Paris Saint-German, Juventus and AC Milan also named in the report.
