Man City transfer news: Juventus eye swap involving Brazil star and Ilkay Gundogan

Manchester City have been keen to suggest there will be little transfer activity between now and September with the bulk of their business already done following the major signings of Erling Haaland and Kalvin Phillips.

But some sources in Europe seem convinced two big midfield favourites may yet be ready to jump ship between now and the end of the window to move to Manchester.

Italy and Spain are predictably the destinations mooted for outgoing players while the saga over Marc Cucurella shows no sign of nearing a satisfactory conclusion. Mirror Sport has rounded up the best of the transfer news, gossip and rumours.

Juve eye swap deal

Italian outlet Calciomercato claim City could organise a swap deal with Juventus involving Ilkay Gundogan and Brazilian midfielder Arthur. The latter had been linked with a move to Arsenal but the Italian website believes City are ready to step in instead. Gundogan, 31, has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Manchester City. He has fallen down the pecking order somewhat, especially with City bringing in Phillips from Leeds United this summer. City may feel they have to sell a few players this summer, and Gundogan could go given his contract situation. The Germany international has been linked with a move to Juve several times this summer.

Bernando strikes Barca deal

Another City playmaker Bernardo Silva has already reportedly agreed personal terms with free spending Barcelona, though the Catalan giants will need to pay £70m if they’re to complete the signing. According to Mundo Deportivo the the La Liga side have been in talks with Silva over a potential move for some time, with the Portuguese international open to signing However, City themselves are eager to retain the midfielder, with sporting director Txiki Begiristain setting a £70m price tag on the former AS Monaco star.

No breakthrough in Brighton talks

Cucurella seems as far away as ever from a move to the Etihad with City and Brighton seemingly £10m apart in valuations for the defender. City are understood to want to pay £40m for the Spain international but the south coast outfit want £50m. Sky Sports News confirmed Brighton rejected the Premier League champions' first offer for the player. And City are now briefing that they will not be held to ransom. Brighton have set a £50m-plus valuation for the Spaniard, who is rated even higher than Ben White, according to sources in the negotiations. The Athletic reported that City raised their bid for Cucurella up to £40m on Friday, which Brighton rejected.
