Man City's Premier League title wins 'in question' during era of alleged financial breaches

Liverpool have run Manchester City close in the Premier League title race in recent seasons with just a fine margin between the two sides.

But City have today been hit with a charge from the Premier League relating to several breaches of financial fair play regulations after an investigation by the governing body which took four years to compile.

It is unclear at this stage of the full implications of what this could mean for City, and whether the Premier League titles they won during this period are under threat. The ECHO has taken a look back at City's six championship wins during the time in question.

Had Mane's effort stood and the result gone Liverpool's, the points swing would have wrapped up the title for the Reds.

2020-21 Runners-up Manchester United

Jurgen Klopp's side had ended their 30-year wait for the title the previous season but a spate of injuries, and a run of six consecutive defeats at Anfield, saw them fall away. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Unites side surged into second place, but without ever really looking likely to catch City. Guardiola's side eventually finished 12 points clear at the top.

2021-22 Runners-up Liverpool

Liverpool were attempting to win an unprecedented quadruple and pushed City right to the wire in the Premier League. For a brief period on the final day of the league season City the title was in Liverpool's hands as City fell 2-0 down to Aston Villa with 20 minutes to go, while Liverpool led Wolves.
