Man City ‘reject £68m bid from PSG’ for Bernardo Silva and more transfer rumours

Manchester City reportedly rebuffed a £68m (€80m) bid from Paris Saint-Germain for Bernardo Silva this week.

The Spaniard’s future at the Etihad still remains unclear with just 12 days to go until deadline day. Pep Guardiola even admitted this in his pre-Newcastle press conference, saying: “He knows our wishes as a club, me as a manager and even his mates. What is going to happen? I don’t know."

Barcelona have been the club most linked with a move for Silva, although are said to have been put off by City’s £80m valuation. Guardiola is keen for Silva - who scored 13 times last season - to stay in Manchester.

Le10Sport says this was a factor in City ’s rejection of PSG’s offer, albeit L’Equipe reports that it may not be the last time the champions hear from the French club. It says PSG still ‘dream’ of a Silva purchase with club director Luis Campos a huge admirer.

A second bid, it claims, could be submitted within the next few days although the Ligue 1 giants are being restricted in their chase by Financial Fair Play.

Meanwhile, Dagbladet claims Borussia Dortmund will not receive any payment for Erling Haaland from City until 2023 at the earliest. A £51m fee was agreed for the striker in the summer but this will not be paid in its entirety until 2026, the outlet claims.

It means former clubs Bryne FK, Molde and RB Salzburg will not receive their sign-on share until next July at the earliest.

“We received no payment at the time of sale,” Bryne chief Hans Øyvind Sagen said.

“The reason for that is the agreement that has been concluded between Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund. We are entering the income this year, but the money will not arrive until July next year.”
