Man City player ratings vs Nottingham Forest as Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez brilliant

Ederson: Showed sensible caution not to dive in on O'Brien early on in the penalty area. Had little to do otherwise. 7

Walker: A much quieter night for him in the best way possible. Ended up playing centre-back for another string to his bow. 7

Stones: Looked to have taken a goal off Haaland but made up for it by teeing up his hat-trick goal. Composed on the ball. 8

Dias: Some solid work to clean up whenever Forest threatened to make it into the City third. 7

Cancelo: His best display of the season, linking up well with Bernardo Silva and smashing in a goal. 8

Rodri: One errant pass that had Guardiola's hands to his head in anguish but kept City aggressively on the front foot. 7

Gundogan: Restored to the centre of midfield and pushed up high to overwhelm the Forest defence, using the ball intelligently. 7

Bernardo: City fans rightly sang his name after an excellent showing from the right that was far too good for former Atletico defender Renan Lodi. 8

Alvarez: A terrific first Premier League start rewarded with two cracking goals. Ran and ran and ran, determined to win the ball back or make an opening for his teammates. 9

Foden: He passed to Haaland for a goal, then did it again! That should keep the critics quiet, and quite right - his liveliest display of the season. 8

Haaland: The man is from another planet. Already a Premier League record-holder after another hat-trick takes him to nine goals from five games. 9
