Manchester City appear to be clicking back into gear.
After a difficult opening period to the season, Pep Guardiola’s side have returned from winning the Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia in unbeaten fashion.
They trail Premier League leaders Liverpool by five points but do boast a game in hand and have recently welcomed back Kevin De Bruyne and Jeremy Doku during their 5-0 thrashing of Huddersfield in the FA Cup.
Having two such key players available for the run-in is a huge boost and there are still players to return.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Manchester City injuries...
Erling Haaland
Star striker Erling Haaland has not played since the defeat to Aston Villa back in December.
Guardiola, however, has confirmed the Norway international is back in light training and hinted there was an outside chance he could play against Newcastle on Saturday.
“Erling is a little better, his bone, so we need to be careful,” he said.
“[He’s had] two or three sessions and feels good. Hopefully, [he can play soon but], I don’t know for Sunday or for Newcastle.'
Potential return date: January 2024
Bernardo Silva
Bernardo Silva sat out of the win over Huddersfield due to illness but the issue is not expected to be serious.
Potential return date: Saturday 13 January 2024 vs Newcastle
John Stones
Key defender-turned-midfielder John Stones has endured an injury-hit campaign this season and was forced off against former club Everton last month.
“He’s not training with us,” Guardiola said last week. “He’s getting better but not training with us. I don’t know [when he’s back].”
Potential return date: Unknown
Kalvin Phillips
Kalvin Phillips, who is expected to leave this month anyway, missed the win over Huddersfield due to illness.
