Man City injury update: Bernardo Silva, John Stones and Kevin De Bruyne latest news and return dates

Manchester City are monitoring injury issues for three key players.

Bernardo Silva dropped out of contention last week due to an unconfirmed issue while Kevin De Bruyne has undergone surgery on a recurring hamstring injury.

In defence, Pep Guardiola has issues too with John Stones falling foul of a muscle injury.

However, there was good news as City beat Newcastle on the weekend with Ruben Dias’ return to the side following a concussion.

Here is your latest update of Man City injuries and return dates...

Bernardo Silva

Guardiola left Silva out of the UEFA Super Cup and win over Newcastle due to reported illness issues.

The City boss simply described the playmaker as “out” of the weekend’s action but, if the talk of illness is true, his absence is not set to be a long one.

John Stones

After appearing to overcome a hip injury to be in the Super Cup squad, Stones suffered a muscle injury which kept him out for Newcastle.

“Last training he did not feel comfortable,” said Guardiola. “I don’t know how long he will be out. Now we have a big, big problem especially for this game but in general.”

Kevin De Bruyne

De Bruyne will return early next year after undergoing surgery on his hamstring.

"He is a very important player and it is not one or two weeks,” said Guardiola. “It's four or five months.

“So we have to reflect a bit on the squad, and think about what we have to do.”
