Man City goalkeeper Ederson breaks Premier League record held by Man United great Patrice Evra

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson became the fastest Premier League player to record 150 wins in the top flight, smashing the record set by former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.

Ex-Reds man Evra reached the tally in just 213 matches, while Brazilian shot-stopper Ederson achieved the feat in just 197 appearances, thanks to the Blues' victory over Leeds United on Wednesday night.

Ederson's City teammate Kevin De Bruyne took 215 matches to notch 150 Premier League victories, while club legend Fernandinho did it in 216 games. City's first-choice goalkeeper has made 261 appearances for the Blues since signing from Benfica in 2017, registering a staggering 129 clean sheets.

Former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech took 217 matches to achieve 150 Premier League victories. He recorded 207 clean sheets during his illustrious career.

Pep Guardiola's side returned to second in the Premier League table with the comfortable victory over Leeds, with Rodri putting the away side in front on the stroke of half-time. Erling Haaland scored twice in the second period, with Pascal Struijk scoring for the Whites to deny Ederson another clean sheet.

The Brazilian goalkeeper, who played second fiddle to Alisson at the recent World Cup in Qatar, has won 11 trophies since arriving at the Etihad Stadium, including four Premier League titles and four EFL Cups. The 29-year-old has not missed a league game in more than a year and has played at least 35 times in the league in each of his five full seasons with the club.

Meanwhile, Evra made 379 appearances for United, with the full-back registering 10 goals and 38 assists. The Frenchman enjoyed consistent success at Old Trafford and won a total of 14 trophies, including five Premier League titles, the Champions League and three EFL Cups.

United, who secured a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night, face Wolves on Saturday afternoon. City, meanwhile, host Everton on the same day.
