Harry Kane left a number of Manchester City fans feeling rather upset after he scored a late winner for Tottenham Hotspur against their team.
Having taken the lead through Dejan Kulusevski, City had managed to get themselves back on level terms thanks to a 33rd-minute equaliser from Ilkay Gundogan. However, just before the hour mark, Kane fired his team into the lead from close range following a cross from Son Heung-min.
To make things even worse, after the home team then managed to grab a late equaliser – this time in the 92nd-minute through Riyad Mahrez – the Three Lions forward struck once again.
Kane's last-gasp header gave his team all three points just when it looked as though Antonio Conte and co would have to settle for the draw.
To add salt to the wounds, as we all know, the England and Tottenham star very nearly ended up signing for Pep Guardiola's men during the summer. Indeed, multiple sources claimed that Daniel Levy rebuffed Man City's transfer bids – some of which were reported to be in the region of £100m.
After the failed move, Kane’s form in the league has hardly been a representation of his best quality. In past seasons, the Tottenham man has scored goals with ease but this term, he had netted a measly five league efforts before making the trip to Manchester.
Despite his inconsistent displays, the 28-year-old found his shooting boots against the team that tried so hard to sign him and truly reminded them of what they missed out on.
With Liverpool winning, the loss means City's lead at the top of the table has been cut to just six points. Perhaps the title race is back on!
Taking all that into account, it's safe to say the Manchester club's support were left lamenting their side's inability to sign Kane in the summer.
Here's the best of the reaction on social media.
