Welcome to the latest edition of the City Is Ours daily round-up, where we take a look at some of the Manchester City stories you might have missed.
Pep Guardiola has been linked with a midfield maestro currently plying his trade at Leicester City and City have been sent a warning by an ex-Manchester United coach who worked under Sir Alex Ferguson.
And finally, City are reportedly on the verge of signing a 17-year-old wonderkid who’s attracted attention from across Europe.
City sent United warning
Former United coach Rene Meulensteen has delivered a strong warning to both Liverpool and City.
Speaking to The Sun , Meulensteen said: "If you ask a Liverpool player 'do you know what you are doing?', they will all say 'yes'.
"You ask City players, no matter how Pep might change things, 'do you know what you are doing?', they will all say 'yes'.
"Ask United players and I don't think you get such an assured answer. Mind you, if either club does not prepare properly for when they [Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp] leave, they'll end up in the same position."
Our view : Despite this warning coming from a former United coach, Meulensteen is right.
United’s fall from grace has been so enjoyable for the blue half of Manchester, but it should act as a warning that if the club don't have a long-term plan for when Guardiola steps down, they too could find themselves falling behind their rivals.
City linked with midfield star
Death, taxes and City being linked with a midfielder.
Fichajes report (via The Mirror ) that City are interested in signing Youri Tielemans as Guardiola looks to freshen up his options in the middle of the park.
Tielemans has been linked with a move to United in the past but it seems Guardiola is keen to bring him to the Etihad Stadium.
Our view : There’s no denying Tielemans is a great player and with Fernandinho expected to leave at the end of the season, City will likely be in the market for a midfielder.
Buying someone with Premier League experience who is brilliant on the ball could be just the sort of signing City need to make this summer.
17-year-old wonderkid is City bound
Ben Boksac has reported the Premier League champions are on the verge of signing Zalan Vancsa.
The 17-year-old has attracted interest from Europe’s elite, including AC Milan and Bayern Munich, but City look set to win the race for his signature.
Our view : Obviously this isn’t one to get excited about just yet as he’s clearly a star for the years to come.
However, the fact that City are searching for these types of players shows they're desperate to build for the future. The likes of Phil Foden and Cole Palmer are two fine examples of City utilising their academy system and long may it continue
