Man charged with murder following death of detainee at Yongah Hill Detention centre

Homicide detectives have charged a 29-year-old man with murder after a detainee was killed in a violent altercation at the Yongah Hill Immigration Detention Centre east of Perth.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to a disturbance at the detention centre on the outskirts of Northam, about 100 kilometres east of Perth, about midnight last Thursday.
