Man charged with double shooting murder in Ilford

Detectives investigating a double killing in Ilford have charged a man with murder.

Saydi Abu Sheikh, aged 23, and Zakariya Jeilani Mohamed, 32, died after being shot at a house in Henley Road.

A third man was also injured in the attack on October 25, 2022.

Chibiuke Ohanweh, 21, from Romford was due to appear in custody at Bromley Magistrates’ Court charged with two counts of murder. He was arrested on Wednesday.

Armed officers were scrambled to the crime scene and discovered the three men with gunshot wounds.

A 30-year-old man was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds, where he remained for some time in a serious condition. He has since been discharged from hospital. The families of all three men continue to be supported by specialist officers.

Four other men have previously been arrested in connection with the murders.

Ayaani Ali Adan, 20, of Barking, was arrested on November 11, 2022, and charged with two counts of murder and one of attempted murder, posssession of a fierarm, ammunition and a knife as well as a Class B drug.

Zain Mirza, 20, from Newham and Mahad Gouled, 21, from Enfield, were both charged with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder. Zakarie Mohamed, 18, of Kensal Rise, Kensington, was arrested on April 12 and subsequently charged with two counts of murder, attempted murder and two counts of possession with intent to supply a Class B drug.

A provisional trial date has been set for October 2023.
