A man has been charged with attempted murder following an axe attack in a west London park.

Metropolitan Police officers were called to reports of an altercation at Acton Park at around 5.30pm on April 2.

Officers found a 31-year-old man with a stab wound to his back and provided first aid.

He was treated by the London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance before being taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Adam Abdillahi, 45, was arrested on April 9 on suspicion of attempted murder.

He was charged the following day and appeared at Ealing Magistrates’ Court where he was remanded in custody.

Another man, aged 44, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on April 4 and was later bailed.

Police have asked anyone who may have information to contact them.

Detective Inspector John Gillespie, who is leading the investigation, said: "Our thoughts remain with the man and his family as he continues to receive medical treatment.

"This incident took place towards the bottom of the park, close to a busy main road, tennis courts and a mini golf course.

"If you were nearby and saw anything, or captured any footage on your phone, please come forward and speak to police."

Anyone with information or footage is asked to call police on 101, quoting CAD 5835/2APR or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
