A man has been charged after a car was deliberately set on fire in a Scots street.
Fire crews rushed to the dramatic scene on Main Street, Calderbank at around 10.25pm on Thursday, January 20.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) immediately deployed a fire engine to the area and firefighters were caught on camera extinguishing the flames.
A 35-year-old man has now been charged in connection with wilful fire raising and vehicle theft, according to Police Scotland.
The police force also added that a 21-year-old woman was charged with road traffic offences.
Both have since been released to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Friday, February 18, 2022.
An SFRS spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 10.31pm on Thursday, January 20, to reports of a fire affecting a vehicle in Main Street, Calderbank.
“Operations control immediately mobilised a fire engine to the location and firefighters extinguished the fire.
“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a report of a vehicle fire on Main Street, Calderbank, around 10.25pm on Thursday 20 January 2022.
“A 35-year-old man was charged in connection with wilful fire raising and vehicle theft, and a 21-year-old woman was charged in connection with road traffic offences.
“Both were released to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court on 18 February 2022.”
