Man Buys Ford Truck. Then He Notices It Has A BlueCruise Tracker: ‘It’s Privacy Invasion’

Update: Ford reached out to Motor1 with a statement saying:

Select 2021 F-150 vehicles are equipped with the hardware to activate the BlueCruise software, which is Ford’s hands-free highway driving technology. Every BlueCruise-equipped vehicle includes a dedicated driver monitoring system. On the F-150 this can be found on the driver side door and near the center digital screen. The system reminds the driver to keep their eyes on the road, even when their hands are off the wheel. The blinking light referenced in the video is one of the infrared illuminators, which help to monitor eye gaze and head position.

Ford respects customer privacy, so this camera is only active while the driver chooses to use BlueCruise or lane centering assist in combination with adaptive cruise control. Even when BlueCruise is active, no images, photos or videos are off-boarded from your vehicle to Ford during regular use.

BlueCruise can be activated via the customer’s Ford account online or via the Ford app.
