Man behaving 'erratically' spotted running with no shoes and trying car doors

A man behaving "erratically" was spotted wearing no shoes and trying car doors.

Police said they are investigating repots of a man seen trying car doors and "behaving erratically" in the area between Knob Hall Lane, Marshside Road and Longacre in Southport between 10pm and midnight on Tuesday, August 9.

The man initially was wearing an Under Cap, however lost this "somewhere along his route", police said. He was also not wearing any shoes. He is described as white, approximately 34-years-old and very slim. He was wearing a grey Nike running top and grey Hugo Boss shorts.

Police are now appealing for anyone to come forward who can identify the man. Officers believe he is likely to live in the area. A spokesperson for the Sefton Branch of Merseyside Police said: "We are investigating reports of a man seen trying car doors and behaving erratically in the area between Knob Hall Lane/Marshside Road/Longacre in Southport between approximately 10pm - midnight on Tuesday, August 9.

"The man is described as white, approximately 34 years of age and very slim. He was wearing a grey Nike running top and grey Hugo Boss shorts. He initially had a Under Armour cap on but he lost that somewhere along his route. The man was not wearing any shoes.

"From elsewhere on social media it seems a number of people saw this man. Anyone who saw him should email the investigating officer at 0240@merseyside.police.uk with contact details.

"We especially want to speak to anyone who can confirm the man's identity as we believe he is likely to live local to the incident."
