Both people have now been identified and will be spoke to be officers.
A man was attacked when trying to break up a fight in Liverpool city centre.
Police were called to an assault on Hardman Street, at around 2.30am on Friday, October 14. Officers were informed that a man had tried to intervene and separate a fight between two people in the area.
After trying to break up the altercation, which is believed to have started on South Hunter Street, he was then punched and kicked to the back on Hardman Street. The victim suffered a serious ankle injury during the attack.

The suspects then walked off in the direction of Hope Street. Merseyside Police launched an investigation after the assault.
Detectives have now issued CCTV images of two people, a man and a woman, who they would like to speak to about the incident. Officers believe that the two people pictured may have information about the assault.
Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said: "This was a vicious and completely unprovoked attack on man who was simply trying to put a stop to an earlier altercation. We think those pictured may have information to help our investigation, so if you know who they are please come forward.
