A man has been arrested after referee Kevin Clancy allegedly received threats following the Old Firm derby last month.
Police have charged Daniel Samson, 25, after the SFA alerted them to abusive messages about the match official. This allegedly included threats to the 39-year-old and his family.
He has been released and will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.
Clancy's performance at Celtic Park on April 8 came under criticism after disallowing an Alfredo Morelos goal for a push on Alistair Johnston with the game at 0-0, before Celtic went on to win 3-2.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with threatening communications which were reported by the SFA on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.
“He has been released on an undertaking to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date."
