Man arrested in accident case after 20 years in hiding

The Kannavam police on Tuesday arrested Ganesh, a resident of Pondicherry who had been evading law for two decades, in connection with a tragic accident in 2002. The accident involving a lorry driven by Ganesh at Nirmalagiri, Koothuparamba, had claimed three lives.

He was granted bail in the case, but he failed to make court appearances and subsequently went into hiding in Tamil Nadu.

Subsequently, a warrant was issued for his arrest. In 2009, the court declared him an absconder. After persistent efforts, the Kannavam police successfully located him.

Under the leadership of Kannavam Station House Officer Jithesh, a team conducted an extensive investigation, leading to Ganesh’s apprehension in Pondicherry.

The operation was carried out by principal sub inspector Vipin along with senior civil police officer Bijesh Thekumpadan and civil police officers Maraya Prajith Kannipoyil and Nizamuddin.
