A man has been arrested after police carried out three warrants following a shooting on the Woodchurch estate.
Merseyside Police investigating a shooting on the estate today executed three warrants in the Woodchurch and Birkenhead areas. At around 8.10pm on Saturday, December 3 officers received reports a man had been shot in the leg on Orrets Meadow Road on the Woodchurch estate.
The man was taken to hospital with a non-life threatening injury. Neighbours told the ECHO they took refuge in the upstairs of their homes after hearing "gunshots and screams" as the man was shot in the leg.

The victim of the shooting was then seen being "dragged" through people's gardens by a second man in search of safety. One witness, who lives on the estate, said the shooting was "over in seconds". They told the ECHO : "We heard two shots, separated by a scream, before an engine revved and the shooter took off. We kept clear of the windows, turned off the lights and took refuge upstairs."
Merseyside Police executed three warrants earlier today, Thursday, December 22. A 21-year-old man from the Birkenhead area was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm and prohibited ammunition. He was also arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of cocaine and class B drugs and on suspicion to commit burglary. He is currently in custody being questioned by detectives.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Grounds said: "Our commitment to taking firearms and those who choose to use them off our streets remains a priority for Merseyside Police. We know the upset and anger that guns and the associated criminality of those who carry them causes in our communities which is why we will do everything we can to tackle the issue head-on.
"Law abiding members of the community remain our greatest asset and I would ask them to be our eyes and ears and tell us who is using weapons and where they are being stored in their neighbourhoods."
