Man arrested after police find sword during dawn raid on south Manchester home

A man has been arrested after police found a sword during a dawn raid on a home in south Manchester.

Officers made the discovery after executing a warrant at the property in Clitheroe Road, Longsight, at about 5.30am today (Friday, February 11).

Along with the weapon, a haul of cannabis was also seized.

Police shared an image of the drugs wrapped in plastic bags.

A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and possession of class B and class A drugs.

He remains in custody for questioning.

The raid was carried out by GMP's City of Manchester Challenger team, supported by the Central Tasking Team and specialist operations, as part of an ongoing investigation into drugs and firearms offences.
