A man has been taken into custody after three people, believed to be his brother and parents, died after an alleged overnight attack in their south-west Sydney home.
At about 1.30 am on Sunday, May 3, emergency services were called to an address in Rosemeadow’s Juliet Close following reports that numerous people were assaulted by a man known to them.
According to 9News, when police arrived, they found a 65-year-old woman inside the address, but unfortunately, she couldn’t be saved and died at the scene.
Following a search of the house and adjoining granny flat, a 25-year-old male was found dead alongside a 64-year-old male, who had suffered critical head injuries.
The 64-year-old was rushed to Liverpool Hospital, but later died of his injuries.
A 30-year-old man, believed to be the brother of the accused and the person who made the call to Triple Zero, was also taken to hospital, but has since been released.
At about 2.30am, police arrested a 32-year-old man after he arrived at the home in a silver sedan.
According to 9News, the driver was related to everyone inside the house, with the woman and man in their 60s believed to be his parents, and the two other men being his brothers.
After his arrest, the 32-year-old was taken to Campbelltown Police Station. He has yet to be charged with any offences.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Superintendent Grant Healey said emergency responders “were confronted with a very bloody scene”.
“It’s a very extensive crime scene. We haven’t recovered a weapon at the moment, but we are systematically working through the granny flat, and then we will go through the house,” Healey said per The Sydney Morning Herald.
“Police were confronted with a very bloody scene. Blunt force trauma is always horrendous for people to confront, and any edged weapon attack is horrendous to confront.
“So police and ambulance did a fantastic job in very trying circumstances.”
Healey went on to confirm that the family were not known to police, and that this is a “very tragic incident”.
“The family weren’t known to us. This is a very tragic incident; there was no way for us to predict this kind of thing to occur,” he added.
A crime scene has since been established, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
