A garda investigation has been launched after a man armed with an iron bar robbed a sum of cash from a Meath bookmakers on Saturday afternoon.
The robbery occurred at around 1:30pm at Paddy Power bookmakers in Rathoath. Gardai on the Meath Crime Prevention Facebook page said a lone man "entered the premises carrying an iron bar and "approached the counter and demanded money".
They described the man as "around 6 foot tall, of skinny build and with a Dublin accent" and said he was wearing a dark coloured tracksuit top with grey sleeves. Officers added that the man got a small amount of cash and left the scene on foot and went into the nearby graveyard.

A garda spokesman told Dublin Live that no arrests have yet been made. He said: "Gardai are investigating a robbery that occurred at a business premises on Main Street, Ratoath, Co. Meath at approximately 1.30pm yesterday 17th September 2022.
"A sum of money was taken during the incident. No arrests have been made at this time. Investigations are ongoing."
