A man and woman arrested in connection with the death of a man in Wicklow have been released without charge.
The victim, named locally as Juris Viktorovs from Latvia, was stabbed a number of times at a house in Ballyconnell in Wicklow on Thursday evening at 8.15pm.
It is understood a number of people were gathering at the house at the time.
The victim’s partner lives in the house and is local to the area, while Mr Viktorov is believed to have lived in the nearby Tullow area.
An altercation took place and the victim suffered a number of stab wounds, the alarm was raised and gardai were called to the scene, but the victim died.
A man in his 30s and woman in her 20s were arrested at the scene and today they were released without charge. A file is being prepared for the DPP.
In a statement a garda spokesperson said: “Investigations are ongoing.
“Gardaí in Baltinglass are continuing to appeal to any person who may have information in relation to this incident to contact them.
