A man is set to face court later this year after he allegedly used social media to threaten a government adviser.
The National Security Investigations team, which was established by the Australian Federal Police, raided a Buff Point home, on the Central Coast, on August 20, 2026.
There, officers arrested a 63-year-old man.
National Security Investigations had launched an investigation after an online user allegedly made a threat about the adviser on a social media post.
The raid came as part of the investigation, and officers seized a mobile phone for further review at the time.
The 63-year-old man was served a court attendance notice to face Wyong Local Court in October.
He was charged with one count of using a telecommunications service to menace, harass or cause offence.
This offence carries a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment, if convicted.
Australian Federal Police Commissioner Krissy Barrett announced the establishment of National Security Investigations teams in October 2025.
They were designed to target groups and individuals causing high levels of harm to Australia's social cohesion, including the targeting of the Jewish community.
