Man allegedly brought hunting knife to Mooseheads to stab phone thief

A man allegedly brought a hunting knife to a nightclub, planning to "take matters into my own hands" by stabbing "the c---" who stole his phone.

Hayden Joshua Anderson, 28, was granted bail in the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday.

The man, from Monash, is yet to enter a plea to possessing a knife without a reasonable excuse.

Police documents state that on Sunday, about 2am, Anderson was stopped at the entrance to Mooseheads nightclub when a bouncer spotted a large knife in his jacket.

After the security guard took the 30-centimetre-long hunting knife, Anderson allegedly said he'd lost his phone and had brought the blade to use it on the person who had stolen it.

When police arrived, the 28-year-old, who had glassy eyes and was slurring, allegedly said he wanted to "stab the c---" who stole his phone.

"Just drunk and f---ing, last time I lost my phone you cops didn't do shit about it. You wouldn't track it, I tracked it and you guys wouldn't do shit about it," Anderson said.

"So, I thought I'd take matters into my own hands because I lost my new phone.

"I went home, I got the knife, I came back out."

On Monday, magistrate Glenn Theakston said he was "concerned" about the allegations.

Mr Theakston granted bail, which was not opposed by the prosecution, but put in place several conditions.

These included the "precise requirement" for Anderson not to possess a knife or a weapon outside of his kitchen.

Anderson was also ordered not to drink alcohol and to follow a curfew.

He is set to face court again next month.
