A 21-year-old has admitted trying to harm the late Queen after he was caught in the grounds of one of her residences with a loaded crossbow.
Jaswant Singh Chail pleaded guilty to a charge under the Treason Act after he was spotted in the grounds of Windsor Castle with the weapon on Christmas Day in 2021. The monarch, who died in September 2022, was staying at her Windsor residence with other royals over the festive period.
He also pleaded guilty to making a threat to kill the Queen and having an offensive weapon in a public place during the hearing at the Old Bailey on Friday. We reported at the time that Chail had posted a threatening video message on Snapchat minutes before he was arrested.
