Man, 56, dies, on busy Edinburgh street as cops close off road

A 56-year-old man died after taking unwell on a busy Edinburgh street yesterday.

Police raced to the foot of Leith Walk at around 2pm on Saturday after reports of concern.

The man was rushed to Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh but sadly died a short time later.

The road was closed to traffic for a short while and several Lothian Bus services were diverted from the scene, reports Edinburgh Live.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.50pm on Saturday, 25 February, officers were called to a report of a man taking unwell on Leith Walk, Edinburgh."

They added: “The 56-year-old was taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where he died a short time later.

“There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
