Malvika takes a game off world no. 12 Michelle in German Open's 58-minute thriller

NAGPUR: Young Malvika Bansod played her heart out but the 61st ranked Nagpur shuttler fell short on experience and went down fighting to world No. 12 Michelle Li of Canada in her opening round clash of the German Open on Wednesday.

While the 2014 Commonwealth Games champion Michelle escaped to post victory over her young 20-year-old opponent, Malvika earned the respect of her experienced rival when she stretched their women's singles opening round clash of the BWF World Tour Super 300 tournament to the deciding third game.
