The Department of Fine Arts under the Ministry of Culture invites people to make merit during the Thai New Year at the Buddha relics bathing ritual which takes place today from 9am to 4pm at Samran-Mukhamat Pavilion, the National Museum Bangkok.
Songkran marks the beginning of the new year in Thailand, so many people believe they need to make merit to ward off back luck and bad health during this occasion. Therefore, every year, the Department of Fine Arts puts on display Buddha relics and Buddha statues for visitors to bathe and make a wish.
Visitors need to present their vaccine certificate which certifies they have at least two Covid-19 shots or present an antigen test kit (ATK) result no older than 24 hours upon arrival. Wearing protective masks at all times is mandatory.
