Stan Collymore has urged Liverpool to 'make a statement' by signing Jude Bellingham this summer after Monday night's defeat at Manchester United.
A lacklustre Reds side lost 2-1 at Old Trafford, with Mohamed Salah's header not enough to cancel out goals from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford either side of half-time. Jurgen Klopp's men struggled to cope with an aggressive Red Devils side and a raucous atmosphere.
Liverpool have suffered a litany of injury problems already this season, particularly in midfield where Klopp was tonight without Thiago, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - Fabinho was only fit enough for a second-half substitute appearance. And tonight's sub-standard performance has led to calls from ex-Liverpool man Collymore to go and sign Bellingham in a statement move.

Collymore's tweet read: "Go and get Bellingham now. Test Dortmund's resolve with a chunky bid and get him in. It's not just City that Liverpool have to worry about.
"North London is more settled and Chelsea will keep spending. Make a statement, open the FSG vault and get some youthful dynamism in there."
Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Borussia Dortmund teenager all summer, but the German side's £100million price tag effectively warned off any potential suitors for the window. The 19-year-old's current contract runs out in 2025.
