Major shake-up of DWP benefits that 'worries' campaigners planned for millions

In a move that has previously worried campaigners, Government ministers are planning a major shake-up of the benefits system for payments to sick and disabled people in the UK. According to one report, Tory ministers are considering changing the way 'fit-for-work' tests happen.

In an article published by the Mirror today, Thursday, January 12, what it refers to as ‘perverse’ fit-for-work tests could be ditched in their current form. Sources have claimed that the tests make people “prove how incapable you are” - ministers are looking at a system that would let people keep claiming some sickness payments even if they return to work.

A number of points were raised in the article, but it said " the plans are vague, not final and have previously worried campaigners".
