Major search launched for man who jumped into river after police came knocking

A major search is currently underway after a man jumped into a river in Lancashire this morning when police came knocking at his address.

Just before 7am this morning (January 13), officers attended an address on Edward Street, Walton-le-Dale, to make enquiries in connection with an ongoing investigation.

Daniel Godkin, 30, then made off from officers before jumping into the nearby River Ribble, LancsLive reports.

A search including police, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service was carried out but he still remains missing.

Police are now looking for any information that could lead to his whereabouts. A spokesperson for the police said: "Some of you may have seen a lot of police activity on London Road in Walton le Dale earlier this morning and we wanted to let you know what has been happening.

"At shortly before 7am today (Friday, January 13th) we attended an address on Edward Street in Walton le Dale to make enquiries in connection with an ongoing investigation.

"Following their arrival, a man made off from officers and jumped into the nearby River Ribble.

"A search involving police, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service was carried out but at this time the man remains missing.

"Enquiries are now ongoing to try and find Daniel Godkin, 30, (pictured) and anyone who sees him or knows where he might be should call police on 999 quoting log 0188 of today (Jan 13th)."
