The accolades for the month of November are rolling in for the Boston Celtics, and it’s begun to spread beyond the confines of the NBA itself, with Celtics affiliate player Luka Samanic — currently suiting up for the Maine Celtics, Boston’s Portland-based developmental affiliate — winning Player of the Month honors for November at the G League level per the team’s Instagram account.
The Maine Celtics have jumped out to an 8-2 start as one of the G League’s hottest ball clubs, and Samanic’s play is no small part of the reason for that hot start. Averaging 21.7 points and 11.4 rebounds, the 2022 Celtics camp invitee leads the G League in double-doubles with a total of nine already this season.
Samanic joins superstar forward Jayson Tatum as a player of the month at the NBA level, with Boston interim head coach Joe Mazzulla being tabbed for Coach of the Month honors as the parent club has also jumped out to a sizzling start with an 18-4 record behind Mazzulla’s coaching and Tatum’s MVP-caliber play.
