A MAIN route coming into Alloa is currently closed amid reports of damage to the carriageway, amid claims of a sinkhole in the area.

Drivers cannot access a section of Clackmannan Road starting at the town’s Morrisons supermarket.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Clackmannan Road has been closed between the Clackmannan roundabout and Hilton Road, following a report of damage to the road around 1.10pm on Monday, August 17.

“The relevant agencies have been advised.”

One local councillor said that it has been caused by a sink hole.

Fiona Law commented: “Avoid Clackmannan Road, Alloa. Road closed between Morrisons and the football stadium due to a sink hole.”
