MUMBAI: While Class 12 students of CBSE and CISCE are still writing their board exams, their counterparts in the state board will get their HSC results on Wednesday.
More than 14 lakh students, including 3 lakh from Mumbai division, appeared for their first offline written exams since the pandemic struck in March 2020. Their results will be available on www. mahresult.nic.in from 1pm on Wednesday. Despite the early results, admissions to the state's degree colleges will be delayed again this year as CBSE and ISC results are unlikely to be announced before the first week of July. The academic session too will commence late, as in the past two years.
Ending the wait for anxious HSC students, school education minister Varsha Gaikwad took to social media on Tuesday to announce the results date. For the first time, HSC results will be announced before the national boards. Last year, the state saw near 100% Class 12 results as students were given marks based on internal assessment. This year, like in pre-Covid times, students wrote their exams, albeit in their respective colleges. The mark sheets will be made available in the colleges and schools from June 17.
"Admissions are anyway getting delayed for the past two years," said a principal. Around 25,000-30,000 students from CBSE and ISC schools in the state appear for the Class XII board exams. A Mumbai University official said a tentative admission schedule will be released on Wednesday. "We can start the centralised online registration process for admissions to degree courses," said the official. Last year, MU started admissions in the first week of August.
Leading city colleges such as NM and Mithibai have decided to conduct an entrance test for all their self-financed courses, with zero weightage to board scores. While Jai Hind started the CET last year, St Xavier's has been holding it for almost a decade. However, both these colleges give weightage to board scores.
For HSC students, the facility of photocopies of answer booklets and re-evaluation of marks has been made available. Last year, students were not allowed re-evaluation. Students seeking re-evaluation will have to get photocopies of answer booklets from June 10 to June 29. Re-evaluation will be from June 10-20. Fees for photocopies and re-evaluation will have to be made online.
