MUMBAI: Forty days after the Shinde-Fadnavis government was formed in Maharashtra, it finally expanded its cabinet by inducting 18 ministers: nine each from the BJP and the Shinde faction of the Shiv Sena. Cabinet portfolios are yet to be announced.
However, it is widely expected that deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis could keep the home and finance portfolios till the cabinet is further expanded and CM Eknath Shinde will keep urban development, and most ministers-again, pending further expansion -will get more than one portfolio. No women or independent MLAs were inducted on Tuesday. The next expansion is expected in September.
