Magdalena Eriksson says fifth and final Women’s Super League title means the most at Chelsea

Chelsea defender Magdalena Eriksson says her fifth and final Women’s Super League title with the club means the most.

The Sweden international will be leaving the Blues this summer after a trophy-laden spell for the club and played in Saturday’s win over Reading that sealed the WSL championship on the final day.

Manchester United had pushed Emma Hayes’s side all the way but the champions retained their crown even despite Marc Skinner’s side beating Liverpool.

Sam Kerr scored twice in Berkshire either side of Guro Reiten’s goal in a routine victory.

Eriksson has lifted over ten trophies during her time at Chelsea and was given an emotional reception by the traveling support when substituted during the closing stages.

Chelsea celebrated the win by changing into their home kit to lift the trophy and Eriksson gave an emotional farewell to the Blues.

"I think this is my favourite one [title] - the way we have done it this year,” she said.

“I don’t think any other team has used every single player in their squad like we have with the amount of games we have had. I think everyone has played their part, everyone has been important.

"I have been trying to live in denial [about leaving] before the game - I didn’t want to think about it because it would be too much emotions for me.

“We still had a job to do today and that was the main thing but as soon as I was subbed off the emotions came out and I feel a bit overwhelmed and I don’t really know what to say.

"I think we take so much pride in the environment we create as a team. It’s not just about winning, it’s about being nice to each other being a family, players stepping up, young players developing and getting better. That’s what I’m all for and stand behind that so much."
