For 52-year-old North Carolina farmer Matt Bell, supporting Donald Trump has become a painful reckoning as soaring diesel, fertiliser and equipment costs threaten his livelihood.

Bell, who voted for Trump and remains a Republican, says he is now struggling to keep his farm running and believes policies under the president have contributed to the pressure.
