Madras university restrained from raising affiliation fee

CHENNAI: The Madras high court has granted an interim order restraining University of Madras from increasing the continuous provisional affiliation fee from the member colleges.

The university syndicate in February increased the fee. As per the new slab, every college should pay an affiliation fee of 1,00,000 and 2,00,000 for every new undergraduate and postgraduate course they offer respectively. For the second and third year, the college should pay 25,000 per course (plus 18% GST).
