Madonna is said to have returned home, but it still under medical care after being rushed to hospital with a serious bacterial infection.
The singer, 64, is expected to make a "full recovery" after spending a number of days in intensive care after reportedly being found unconscious at home.
She is thought to have been hooked up to a ventilator and intubated, and had a breathing tube was passed down her throat and into her lungs.
Madonna is now said to be "feeling better and following doctors' orders", with the Queen of Pop being forced to delay the start of her world tour, which she was due to start in July.
"She's home, feeling better and following doctors' orders," a source told the PA news agency.
Madonna was due to start her Celebration Tour in Canada on July 15, but a new start date will now be announced soon.
A statement from her manager Guy Oseary said: "On Saturday June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which led to a several-day stay in the ICU (intensive care unit).
"Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected.
"At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour."
It continued: "We will share more details with you soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows."
Madonna is thought to have been rushed to hospital after battling a low-grade fever for a month before her "body could no longer take it", leading to the medical intervention.
She allegedly powered on through her symptoms as she was too busy rehearsing for her upcoming tour.
TMZ added that doctors confirmed her unreported fever worsened because it was left untreated, promoting the serious medical scare.
Following the news about her stay in the ICU, celebrities including Michelle Visage, Rita Wilson and Rosanna Arquette wrote messages wishing Madonna a speedy recovery.
