Madness unfolds as raving grannies get lost and end up partying with Parklife festival-goers

A pair of grannies who were on their way for a spot of shopping at Manchester’s Arndale got lost on their tracks and ended up raving at Parklife - or so they say.

Parklife’s VIP club welcomed two grannies perched on top of shopping trolleys that blared dance music. Festival-goers looked on in shock as they couldn’t believe the sights they were seeing, as the two old ladies - one in blue and the other in red - raved their way through the private members area.

The grannies revealed themselves to be Margery Long and Doris Day, who did not plan on heading to the music festival in Heaton park today (June 10).

Margery and Doris danced and partied with the festival-goers who were extremely amused at the entertaining act. Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, Margery Long said they were ready to get the party started in the VIP area.

“The bloody sat nav took us here, it’s hopeless," she explained. "It happens every time. We thought we were heading to the Arndale for a spot of shopping because they’re quite jolly friendly down there but somehow ended up at Parklife.

“We’ve been booked to be here in the VIP area - who’d have thought it! The weather is just lovely, it makes a change. I’ve lived in Manchester for about 20 years and it’s always raining. It’s fantastic.”

Margery and Doris are part of ‘Granny Turismo’, the world’s first - and only - Shopping Trolley Dance Display Team.

If VIP members missed the partying pensioners, the ladies are returning on Sunday (June 11).
