Shoppers have expressed their surprise after finding out that one of their favourite foods were cheaper at Marks & Spencer than other major supermarkets.
Despite the shop having a reputation for selling expensive food, TikToker Mafnetworkinglifestyle made jaws drop this week when she showed a pack of M&S 'Remarksable Value' High Welfare Chicken leg portions at £1.20 for a 750g pack.
She said: "Don't let anybody deceive you that Marks and Spencer's is expensive"
"I mean where can you find chicken for £1.30, even in Morrisons they are like £3."
The video, which has been viewed more than 680,000 times since being uploaded to the site on Tuesday (October 25), has seen many people leave comments in disbelief - with some refusing to believe her.
One TikTok user wrote: "Nobody is fooling me. Marks is most definitely expensive,"
Others however said they had recently had the same revelation, particularly if shoppers "use M&S wisely."
And a comparison by MyLondon between the product and similar items available at other supermarkets shows the M&S chicken is indeed cheaper than at least four other major supermarkets.
Morrisons British Chicken Thighs currently costs £2.89 per kilogram, meaning comparable quantity would cost £2.17 - 97p more expensive than M&S.
ASDA's Succulent Chicken Leg Quarters meanwhile come in at £2.09 per kilogram, so the same quantity would cost £1.57 - 37p more expensive than M&S.
An estimated quantity of Tesco British Chicken Legs would be 38p more expensive than M&S ones, at £2.10 for a kilogram or £1.58 for 750g.
Even budget favourite Aldi's Ashfields 100% British Fresh Class A Chicken Legs are £1.99 for a kilogram, so the same quantity would be £1.49.
The only chicken legs which came in cheaper from the newspaper's analysis appeared to be those at Lidl, the supermarket's Strathvale Scottish Chicken Legs, which were £1.69 per kilogram.
This would be £1.27 for the equivalent quantity sold at M&S - making it 3p cheaper.
