On Monday, November 7, the NBA made league history when it showcased all 30 of its teams during a wild 15-game slate. The decision for all teams to play was made to allow each team a day off on Tuesday to encourage players and organization members to go out and vote on the mid-term elections.
While Wednesday’s return to action isn’t quite as busy as Monday’s, there are 13 NBA games on deck for the night.
Let’s take a look at each of the day’s games and come up with one bet to place for each of the matchups.
All odds via BetMGM.
Dallas Mavericks vs. Orlando Magic
Luka Doncic – Over 34.5 Points (-120)
In case you were unaware, Luka Doncic is averaging 36.0 (!) points per game. If the season ended today, that average would be the most since James Harden poured in 36.1 per game during the 2018-19 season.
Back to Luka; he’s gone for 35 or more points in six of the nine games he’s played in this season, including a season-high 44 points against the Magic at the end of October. Bet on him scoring more than 34.5 points.
Portland Trail Blazers vs. Charlotte Hornets
Portland -3.5 (-110)
The Trail Blazers (7-3) are one of the surprise teams of the early NBA season. In addition to their quick start, they are 8-2 against the spread and take on a Charlotte team with a losing record against the spread. I’m not confident in anything the Hornets do, and a 3.5-point line feels too small. Take Portland to cover.
Denver Nuggets vs. Indiana Pacers
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope – Over 0.5 Steals (-250)
KCP is leading the Nuggets in steals per game (1.6) and will enter tonight’s contest on the heels of back-to-back games with at least three steals. If that doesn’t give you enough confidence in betting on him to record over 0.5 steals, then I should inform you that he’s registered also a steal in seven of his nine games this season.
Utah Jazz vs. Atlanta Hawks
Mike Conley – Over 1.5 3-Pointers (-200)
Conley’s trees in each of this season’s games:
10/19 vs. DEN: 2-4 3PT
10/21@ MIN: 3-9 3PT
10/23 @ NO: 1-6 3PT
10/24 @ HOU: 0-3 3PT
10/26 vs. HOU: 3-8 3PT
10/28 @ DEN: 4-5 3PT
10/31 vs. MEM: 5-7 3PT
11/2 @ DAL: 1-4 3PT
11/4 @ LAL: 2-5 3PT
11/6 @ LAC: 2-6 3PT
11/7 vs. LAL: 3-4 3PT
Now, you tell me if it’s worth betting his over 1.5 threes.
New York Knicks vs. Brooklyn Nets
Jalen Brunson Over 18.5 Points (-110)
The calendar flipped from October to November and Jalen Brunson’s scoring number surged. He’s scored at least 20 points in each of the four games he’s played this month and should have no trouble logging more than 18.5 points against the Nets.
Detroit Pistons vs. Boston Celtics
Cade Cunningham – Over 5.5 Rebounds (-120)
The Celtics only grab 41.2 rebounds per game. Cade Cunningham averages 6.5 alone and should be able to surpass his 5.5 rebound prop.
Houston Rockets vs. Toronto Raptors
O.G. Anunoby – Over 1.5 Steals (-175)
The Raptors are averaging an NBA-best 10.6 steals per game, largely due to O.G. Anunoby’s average of 3.1 steals. Tonight, he’ll face a Houston team that is second in the league in turnovers per game (17.3). Expect Anunoby to come away with two or more.
Milwaukee Bucks vs. Oklahoma City Thunder
Points Total – Under 212.5 Points (-110)
Jrue Holiday and Giannis Antetokounmpo are both listed as OUT for Wednesday’s game against the Thunder. As a result, this game should be low-scoring.
Memphis Grizzlies vs. San Antonio Spurs
Jakob Poeltl – Over 8.5 Rebounds (-140)
Make this bet only if Steven Adams (currently listed as questionable) ends up missing this game. Poeltl averages 9.8 boards per game and should be a lock for over 8.5.
New Orleans Pelicans vs. Chicago Bulls
Points Total – Over 232.5 Points (-110)
Mostly thanks to their league-high 118.5 points per game, the Pelicans’ games this season have hit the over eight out of 10 times (also an NBA best). That number should reach nine tonight.
Phoenix Suns vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
Devin Booker – Over 28.5 Points (-105)
Chris Paul is banged up and may or may not play, Cam Johnson is out after undergoing knee surgery and Jae Crowder still won’t suit up. In other words, Devin Booker is going to shoulder the offensive load on Wednesday night and should be in for a 30-point game.
Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Sacramento Kings
Cleveland -4.5 (-110)
Cleveland’s 8-2 record against the spread is the best mark in the NBA. Considering how they blew their last game against the Clippers, I’d expect that they play some angry basketball and make good on their -4.5-point line.
Los Angeles Lakers vs. L.A. Clippers
Ivica Zubac – Over 10.5 Rebounds (-120)
Big Zu pulled in 17 rebounds against the Lakers on opening night, which was a new career-high at the time. Since then, he’s set a new career-high (18 vs. OKC) and has scored over 10.5 rebounds on four more occasions. I’m comfortable betting on him to hit the Over tonight.
