An early morning blaze broke out at an East Kilbride block of flats after rubbish was set alight.
A local resident captured the flames outside the flats in Lyttleton in Westwood shortly before 2am this morning, right next to parked cars.
Luckily, there were no injuries and the area was made safe by emergency services.
One resident told Lanarkshire Live : "I was woken up by the sirens.
"The fire really seems to have taken hold of the rubbish, as there was a fair amount of flames and smoke."
Just last month residents had a lucky escape when mindless firebugs set a bin shed ablaze beneath a block of flats in The Murray's Telford Road as they slept, with police investigating.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman told us: “We were alerted at 1.37am on Thursday, January 20, to reports of rubbish on fire at Lyttleton, East Kilbride.
“Operations control immediately mobilised a fire engine to the location and firefighters extinguished the fire.
“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
Police were contacted for comment.
