Lucknow: Man tied & lynched over water dispute

LUCKNOW: A 45-year-old man was tied up on a tree and lynched by four people, including two women, in Gosainganj in the wee hours of Friday.

Rudra Kumar, a resident of Gosainganj, was killed over an old dispute of water flowing from his farmland towards the land owned by the accused. Four accused were late arrested. They were identified as Kuldeep Rawat 23, Murli Rawat 20, Anita 45 and Saloni 25.

SHO Gosainganj Shailendra Giri said Rudra lived with his wife Sarita and their two children in a shed in Begadia village. He owned a small farm and supported his family.

"In thee eraly hours of Friday, Rudra stepped out and was intercepted by the four accused who live in the same village. First they had a quarrel over the water dispute and then Kuldeep pushed Rudra to the ground. Thereafter, the four accused picked him up and tied him to a tree and started beating him with sticks," said Giri while narrating the sequence of events.

By the time, Sarita reached the spot the attackers had fled leaving the victim bleeding who later died, the police said. Sarita then informed U. "A police team reached the spot and based on Sarita's account a hunt was launched for the accused," said ACP Gosaiganj, Swati Chaudhary. She that later in the day four attackers were nabbed from Gosaiganj and police also recovered blood stained sticks from them.
