LUCKNOW: Two police constables posing as crime branch sleuths along with their two aides held hostage a man at gunpoint demanding Rs 5 lakh and threatened to frame him in a loot case. The incident was reported in Madiaon on Friday.
The victim, Atul Singh, in his FIR said that on April 12, his car was intercepted by another vehicle at Bithauli crossing.
“Three persons got down and two of them, Anil Singh and Sudhir Singh, identified themselves as sleuths of crime branch,” said Atul.
“One of them trained a pistol at me and took me to Madiaon police station from the back gate and forced me in a room. They asked me to give Rs 5 lakh to them and threatened to frame me in criminal cases,” said Atul.
“Fearing this, I immediately gave them Rs 18,000 and further Rs 28,000 after withdrawing from the ATM,” added Atul.The next day, Atul received a call from one Akash Singh, demanding Rs 5 lakh.
“I had only Rs 24,000 which I paid online,” said Atul.
However, the accused threatened him with dire consequences following which Atul informed police.Atul suspects that his acquaintance Shivanshu Mishra, reportedly a journalist, had a role in framing him.
ADCP north Prachi Singh said that the two constables—Anil and Sudhir—had extorted money from Atul. “I have written to the DCP for their suspension while probe is underway,” said Singh.
